Monet_Water_Lilies_1916

I think everyone, for the most part, has a piece of art they love and cherish.  It was when I really first started to acknowledge and understand art for myself that I was introduced to the painting Water Lilies by Claude Monet.

This painting brings multiple feelings to me, especially happiness.  It truly captures a moment in time when Spring is in bloom and the flowers are truly beautiful.

Art is meaningful to me for many reasons. Mainly because it allows one to take away the problems in his or her lives for a moment and focus on a great piece that an artist has produced.  This is how I felt when I actually saw Water Lilies in person. It truly takes your breath away and makes you realize that art has a purpose beyond just something stuck on a wall.  It consumes your feelings and emotions for the matter of seconds you look at it and makes you reimagine yourself in it.

I imagine myself walking next to a small pond and seeing the lilies as they hang above the water, soaking in the sun.  I would imagine Monet saw a meaning similar to mine, perhaps, of a work that invokes a person to immerse in nature and appreciate the great things that it does for a person, how it makes us appreciate beauty and how it is created.

In a lot of my projects lately, I have focused my creativity with different mediums, such as painting and drawing. My love of art, specifically, painting, I feel comes from a family influence from my Great Aunt June. I remember her most for her landscape paintings, but also for the Michelangelo necklace she painted for me.  It is with her inspiration, plus my drive toward creativity that I constructed these pants.

These splatter pants come from not only my familial inspiration, but also from the style bloggers Unabashedly Prep and Thread and Salt. They created and wore pieces that showed the splattering effect that I also used for these.

The pants, in essence, are what I would deem my creative side. The pants involve several different colors in various strokes. This shows the copious amounts of ideas I have and use to craft things that resemble me. I also want to point out the column in this picture – this signifies how found I am in my beliefs and ideals, but I am able to think abstractly about the world.paint pants 3

The process in making these splatter pants was very similar to my paint bag, in which I used the same style. It’s fairly easy to create these. The hard part, you might say, is how you wear these pants. I use a fairly dominant color to mute the boldness of the piece, such as the red sweater.  Good luck, if you so choose to create these pants, or any other garment you so desire.

This month has been filled with many new and great music discoveries. Unlike past years, this month hasn’t always offered a strong amount of good music. This January, however, was jam-packed with many tunes that I see myself listening to for the rest of the year.  Enjoy this playlist.

Christmas is over – so it was time to create a new Flickr collage to use as my screen saver for my Apple TV. Lately, I have been inspired by the different types of art I have seen around me and on the Internet. Thanks to suggestions by my friends, I was able to compile several different pieces of art that I feel have an impact upon my creative capabilities.

In the pictures I have chosen, I feel they represent my current interests, and me such as: fashion, sports I enjoy, animals and artwork of the abstract kind. I think it is important to look at art as you do with yourself, finding qualities that are deemed pivotal and describe you.  It is like fashion that I see art as a way of representing individuality. The works I have chosen for my Flickr, I feel, represent this idea of individuality and stand out as unique pieces of art. Here is the link to my flickr

College

This playlist is the soundtrack of my college years. Each of these songs in some way or another stood out as important songs left an impact on me during this time of my life. Most of the tunes could be heard through my earbuds before and after class. Not only did they get me through classes, but it got me through the trials that I faced while in college.

I believe it’s important to look back and focus on the songs that influenced me during this time because they, in part, assisted with how I remember each key moment in my college life.

Lately, I have thought more and more about my future, in regard to my education. With that said, I hope to further my academic career, in hopes of one day become a teacher. This playlist is a reminder of the past and what to look forward to in the future.
